Community NRM Small Grants Program for Northern Gulf region

23 Dec 2016

NGRMG’s Community NRM Small Grants Program aims to support Wet Tropics community groups to undertake priority natural resource management activities. This grants program is funded from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program (NLP) totalling $160,000.

The Community NRM Small Grants aim to deliver local and long term outcomes specifically for the Northern Gulf priorities, but in line with regional, national and international obligations. NGRMG is taking account of the requirements of this funding source.

The expected maximum grant per applicant is $20,000. However, this can be varied with sufficient demonstration of value for money.

Executive Coordinator Allan Holmes noted "This grants program will fund meaningful NRM projects across the region. This is a significant investment of cash into the community.  These projects will put Northern Gulf back on the front lines of community-driven NRM."

Grants must address one or both of these categories:

- Farm Futures
Available to individuals and groups in the Mareeba/ Dimbulah Irrigation Area, to support agricultural innovation and education.

- Wildlife Management
Works to repair & restore habitat or education & data collection to promote wildlife values

Full details of the program are available below.

The grant program will open for applications on 10 January 2017. Deadline for submissions is 10 Feb 2017.
