These include rodeos, camp drafts, a gold panning championship, the Barra Bash and sometimes a poetry competition.

A Gulf Kids competition open to all school kids in 3 categories for 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13 year olds is promoted to all schools throughout the region. The last competition was run in 2007 as unfortunately there were insufficient funds to run it last year. We are hoping with the new funding due to be announced in July that we can run it again this year.
